Calls for destruction

It’s harder to build something than it is to knock it down. Building requires planning, coordination, resource management, funding and determination.

Destruction can be achieved by a far smaller team in a far shorter time.

Individuals can, under the right conditions, destroy things overnight that took thousands of people, many years to build.

So when anyone declares a public intention to destroy something, we should all be wary.

Not only is this destruction possible, but it might happen so quickly that it becomes difficult to prevent.

We often don’t take what people say at face value, especially when it runs contrary to how we think ourselves. But calls for destruction should be heeded carefully, lest we find ourselves staring at a pile of rubble, wondering what happened.
